June 3rd At The Shop...

Today we have several different items we are working on, but one in particular captures my imagination. This beautiful piano bench from the 1900s has a Bird's Eye Maple top that almost glows with it's new finish. The wood grain has such intricate styling that it seems to dance. We stripped the old finish off and applied a new Blonde Shellac. This historical finish helps the bench to retain it's value, and we are proud to be able to say, we are the only shop in California who can legally apply these old style finishes.

It is easy to imagine this unique piano bench gracing a home over 100 years ago. I wonder what tunes were played and what parties were entertained?
